Will LED lighting usher in spring when incandescent bulbs are phased out?
The answer seems less certain. At the 13th China international hi-tech fair, which opened in shenzhen yesterday (16 November), a reporter from the national business daily found that the LED industry is in a state of "ice and fire". Among them, the sales of high-end LED lighting manufacturers are in good condition, while a number of enterprises are facing the danger of bankruptcy due to the lack of core technology.
"The roadmap for phasing out incandescent bulbs does not ban the export of incandescent bulbs, which still have a large market in many developing countries." Chengdu star lighting electrical appliances co., LTD. General manager zhou houjin said to reporters.
"LED is a direction for the future development of the lighting industry. However, LED lighting industry is still in the early stage of the industry development, and is in a chaotic situation at present. It is urgent to issue an industry standard to regulate it." Zhou said.
LED also needs to "cover spring"
Earlier this month, the national development and reform commission and other departments published a roadmap for phasing out incandescent bulbs by power, and decided to ban the import and sale of incandescent bulbs for general lighting of more than 100 watts from October 1 next year and 15 watts or more by 2016. China is a major producer and consumer of incandescent bulbs, with 3.85 billion produced and 1.07 billion sold in 2010. Chengdu tianxing lighting co., the largest incandescent light manufacturer in the western region, had been planning a transformation even before the roadmap was announced. According to zhou, he did not make a big push into LED lighting during the company's transformation, instead focusing on the technology and the relatively mature market for fluorescent lamps.
"The roadmap for phasing out incandescent bulbs does not ban the export of incandescent bulbs, which still have a large market in many developing countries. "We have increased the share of incandescent lamp exports from 10 percent last year to 30 percent this year." Zhou said.
Public reports show that as of the first half of this year, there were about 4,000 LED enterprises in shenzhen, but in the first half of this year alone, more than 100 midstream packaging enterprises and more than 300 downstream application enterprises closed.
"Everyone thinks they can get a piece of the action in this field," zhou said. "whether they know it or not, they all come in." In his opinion, the current sales field of LED lighting is still relatively professional, such as government procurement, hotels, office buildings, etc., when "flying into ordinary people's homes", it is the "big cake".
A reporter from national business daily found that large enterprises such as foxconn and dag laser have display areas for LED lamps at the CHTF. Different from the recent LED enterprises in zhongshan and shenzhen, which were caught in trouble and closed down, the LED lamps sales of many enterprises are in good condition.
Shenzhen juzuo industrial co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as juzuo) regional manager wu haidong said that the company's sales are good. It is understood that the main business is to provide high-end LED new light source, export proportion of up to 80%.
In an interview with the national business daily, he zaihua, a senior researcher with the China investment corporation (cic), stressed that in the current process of industrial upgrading under the guidance of technology, structural adjustment is inevitable.
Standards urgently needed
"The lack of standards makes it difficult to distinguish the authenticity of LED enterprises in the market, and the pros and cons." Zhou said that the same number of watt LED lights, some sell more than 10 yuan a, some sell more than 100 yuan. Despite 20 years of LED development in China, there is still a lack of national standards recognized by the industry.
It is understood that the main technology of LED upstream chip production is in the hands of foreign companies, the technology localization process is slow, affecting the development of the industry.
Zhan qingxuan, a professor at the school of architecture at tsinghua university and vice President of the China lighting society, believes that the landscape lighting in many Chinese cities is "too much, too bright and too chaotic", which violates the intention of LED lighting to be low-carbon and energy-saving.
A number of experts suggest that the state should strengthen the overall guidance of local LED industry planning, and introduce national industry standards that can be implemented as soon as possible, especially those for related products in demonstration projects.
Chen yansheng, chairman of the China association of lighting appliances, said the industry as a whole would grow by more than 10 per cent in the next five years. According to the industry's 12th five-year plan, the sales volume of the lighting industry in 2015 was 460 billion yuan, of which the export value was 25 billion us dollars. The market share of LED will be bigger and bigger in the future.
